I'm so close to being the first to post ... that I'm second!

Where are the pix of St Ives at New year. C'mon, Steve, let's see what we were missing.

Happy new year.

That must make me number three then. I'm also a St ives groupy and just adore the place, that much that I've produced my own website. So why not have a look, Its called www.love-stives.co.uk and I also have my own forum so feel free to register and contribute as much as you like. I'll also welcome any ideas you have on what you would like to see on the website.

best regards

Neal

Hi all, well in that case I'll take 4th place.... I just adore St Ives, I have had many happy times down there, I go every year.
I'm back down there on the 27th June for a week, any of you peeps there during that time?
I'm really glad to have found this Forum, I just hope it picks up a bit... Where do you guys normally stay when your at St Ives?
I often stay at St Ives Holiday Village, a nice holiday place over in Lelant, it works out really cheap as I use the place as a Base (place to sleep)

Oh well add me to the list of St Ives groupies.
Hubby spent every 6 week school holiday in St Ives then we went every Xmas and New year for years.
New year was a treat. We stood in doorways and watched the madness. Best time of our lives. My kids know when I win lottery I am going to buy St Ives (sigh)

Hi all,

What can I say that hasn't already been said!  I adore St Ives and Cornwall in general.  I am now 36 and have been going since I was young - my mum was a bad flier so we spent all our holidays in Cornwall being one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.  At first we spent allot of time in Loe taking in places like Fowey and Polperro but later on we started to holiday in St Ives stopping in some great hotels such as 'Treganna Castle'.  My only regret is I have never stayed in 'The Pednolva'.  Since leaving home I have continued to holiday in west Cornwall and always Carbis Bay/St Ives.  I started dating my now wife in 2001 but we honeymooned in a 5 star appartment in Carbis Bay in 2003 overlooking St Ives Bay and continue to do this 2 times a year and even 3 times a year.  Finding out the merits of self catering like not having to be on a hotels timetable as well as the accomodation can be really plush!  Companies I reccomend include Carbis Bay Holiday Appartments www.carbisbayholidays.co.uk and Aspects www.aspects-holidays.co.uk, sadly I have no experience of St Ives Holidays www.stivesholidays.co.uk.  Sadly the weather hasn't been great the last couple of years but got especially lucky last September (07).  Been advised by locals that end of June is normally pretty good.  I have friends who made the move in 2001 and haven't looked back - I'm jealous as hell and hope one day I can do this too, should I die before then I hope my family donate one of those benches you see with the little brass plaque, oh and scatter my ashes of one of the fine beeches (sorry getting morbid).  It is my spiritual home - I totally connect with the place - the scenery, the pace, the beauty, the sea, the wildlife, the culture, the cuisine, the ambiance just everything about the place 'I LOVE IT'.  When I drive down the A30 and cross the border in to Cornwall this huge weight lifts from shoulders, I sigh and think 'I'M HOME'.

Sorry to ramble on but I love the place.

Thanks for listening   (sad because I'm not there)

Hello

I am new to the forum - perhaps the 7th here.  It's great to find this website and forum.  I am from the North west and I have been coming to Cornwall since I was a babe in Arms.  I rediscovered it when I met my Husband about 13 years ago and we now come as often as possible -  always to St Ives.  We have been very seriously thinking about moving down for about 6 years but every time we almost got our act together I fell pregnant.  I am pleased to say we now have 3 beautiful little girls and that seems like even more of a reason to move for a better standard of living for them and us. I would be ok for work as I am a nurse.  I am wondering if there is any advice in terms of moving down.  We are in Manchester currently and I sometimes worry al little how we would cope leaving the Big Smoke and whether we would fit in. Everyone we have met in St Ives has been completely lovely but it would be nice to speak to other people who have taken the plunge and moved in terms of how they learned to wind down to a slower pace of life. We are back dowhn for two weeks end of May/ start of June 2009 andf can't wait.

hello, first trip to st ives was with parents when 5 years old. coming on the overnight train from the grey north west the light and colour made a big impression.over the years saw the beatniks, the artists (barbara hepworth going to the shops)the hippies, fish sold from carts on harbour beach.love the sound of the seagulls, smell of the salty air, being surrounded by sky and sea in all different weathers. there's no where like it. have recently rediscovered st ives after a long gap and happy to say the essentials haven't changed.it has something very special. i keep browsing the property sites and dreaming.....!hope this site really does well.

Hi all, we arrived in UK mid December coming from Australia (to beat the heat) and after landing in Heathrow we drove straight down to St Ives. I think we almost had the place to ourselves because it was winter. We loved the pink sunsets, the pubs, getting lost in the alleyways in Downalong and most of all the friendliness of the people. Yes without a doubt it is a magical place. Winter in St Ives - there's nothing like it!

What a great site! I'm so pleased I found it. I've loved going the St Ives since I was a boy. I now drag my wife and family along at every opportunity (although the wife is partial to the off foreign trip too!)We are lucky that whenever we seem to go the weather is great, or maybe it's just like that all the time.
We did try further up the cornish coast one time and went to this place - Self Catering Cornwall . It was Ok but we so missed our usual places in St Ives (well I did anyway!) Keep the posts coming everyone. I'll be putting this site as a shortcut on my desk-top!

Like many here, I've been going to St Ives for years, ever since I was born really. I,m now 32, and my wife  and I travel down twice a year, for summer and for new year. We love it so much, we even got married there. It really does feel like home, in fact I know my way round there better than I know my way round my home town. We are hoping to be able to move there in the next couple of years.

Already looking forward to new year.

Matt.
